so i won an election

here’s how we did it…
the real story!

Hannah Phillips in a blue blazer riding a skateboard and holding a camera on a gimbal, smiling, with boats in the background.

All my life, I’ve been someone people talk to. I’ve always cared about others, about their stories, their struggles. I’m a good listener, and I’ve carried so many voices in my heart over the years, especially from those who feel ignored, overlooked, or powerless.

For a long time, I thought that was enough.

Listening, empathising, venting frustration with how things are. But there came a moment—quiet and clear—where I realised something simple but life-changing:

Why keep complaining when I could actually *do* something about it?

That’s when I decided to run for Lymington and Pennington Town Council.

Not because I had a plan to win. Not because I thought I stood a chance.
But because someone had to try. I was running against the sitting mayor and deputy mayor, both from the Conservative Party. It should have been impossible.

But it wasn’t. People showed up. People believed. And I won.

It wasn’t just a win for me - it was a moment that proved people *do* want change.
That someone like me, who speaks honestly, listens, and refuses to play by the old rules, can actually make a difference.

Now, every decision I make as a councillor comes back to that feeling. That we can do things differently. That local politics can have heart.
That we can build something better - together.
